CyMan, an outdoor triathlon hosted by the Iowa State Triathlon Club, will be held Sunday, Septembrer 15, 2013 at Lake Petoka in Bondurant Iowa.

Race Site

CyMan Triathlon 2013 will again be held at Lake Petocka/Kinney Park in Bondurant Iowa on September 15, 2013.

    Save $10 on registration by registering by this date.
September 13th
    Online registration closes at midnight
September 14th
    2:00 pm – 6:00 pm – Packet pick up at Lake Petocka/Kinney Park.
    *Last chance to register will be in person at packet pick up
    3:00, 4:00, 5:30 – Information Sessions (not required): cover race rules, course, and answer any questions.
September 15th: Race Day
    8:00 am – Race day packet pick up opens
    8:00 am – Transition opens
    9:30 am – Packet pick-up closes
    9:45 am – Transition closes
    9:50 am – Pre-race meeting at race start
    9:55 am – National Anthem
    10:00 am – First swim wave
    12:30 pm – Awards and Prizes (approximate time)


Swim (Map)
The swim will be a shallow in-water start with the course following a modified triangle of 500 yards in the clear water of Lake Petocka. The lake has 360 degree spectator 360 viewing to provide plenty of opportunities for friends and family to cheer you on. Wetsuits will be permitted according to USAT’s guidelines.
Note: Swimming is not permitted in Lake Petocka at this time and will only be allowed on the day of the race.

Bike (Map)
The bike course will head north out of the park onto county roads for approximately 15.5 miles. The course is considered a flat course with rolling hills and finishes with a flat, fast section back to the park.

Run (Map)
The 5k run course is a flat out and back course with plenty of opportunity to keep an eye on your competition. The run will be through the city of Bondurant and end with a ¾ mile loop around Lake Petocka to finish in Kinney Park.

Transition (Map)
Transition will be located just outside of the swim finish. Transition will be a secured area and only athletes will be allowed into transition. You must show your race bib or body marking to enter transition. Retrieval of equipment must be done by the athlete only. The athlete’s bike number must match the competitor’s bib or body marking number in order to exit transition.

Refreshments will be provided after the race followed by awards at approximately 12:30pm.

*Price does not include USAT license. You must have a USAT annual license or purchase a one-day permit for $12.
*Each member of the team must each have their own USAT license (annual or one-day).

CyMan Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned race (sanction currently pending). Please take time to familiarize yourself with USAT’s rules and regulations prior to racing. Top 3 overall male, female and team
USAT Age groups: 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85+
Athena and Clydesdale
Minimum race age: You must be 15 anytime during 2013 in order to race

Packet Pick-up (mandatory)

Packet Pick-up will be available two times: race day and the the day before. You are only required to come to one of the times.

Race Morning Pick-up
Race day packet pick-up will start at 8:00 am and end at 9:30 am. Don’t plan to come at the last minute. Transition will close at 9:45 am.

You will need the following to get your race packet:
•    Photo ID
•    Race number (numbers will be posted online September 7th and will be available at packet pick-up)
•    Current USAT membership card or $12
•    YOU and only you can ONLY pick up YOUR packet (unless you are picking up a packet for your child who is under age 18)

Swim Waves will be announced at packet pick-up

Follow signs and volunteers for parking. Parking is limited so please arrive early and follow directions. Parking is allowed in designated parking areas only. Others will be towed at owner’s expense. Spectators should arrive prior to the start of the race. It will be difficult to enter the park once the race as started.
